In July 2016 we conducted field surveys in the mountains of the newly established Regional Nature Park “Komovi” and its immediate surroundings in order to determine the distribution and population characteristics of the Prokletije rock lizard. Two new sites of D. montenegrina were recorded. By applying previously established methods we collected data for analyses of abundance, activity patterns and habitat characteristics of this species. Unfortunately, in many places we recorded the factors that may threaten this endemic species: improper waste disposal by the local population, removal of rocks and stones in fields during agricultural practices and for fencing purposes, as well as wide belts of whitebark pine (Pinus heldreichii) forests destroyed by fires, which according to the locals, are laid by mushroom gatherers.
